Thinking of Buying this Game....Help
I played EQ2, EQ1, Lineage 2, Diablo 2, Eve Online, Rose Online, etc.
and one thing i hate was hackers and botters and exploiters... Im really considering buying this game, however, i want to know if there are hackers, botters and/or exploiters, cuz they juss kill the game for me everytime. also i already see shitload of people selling guild war items on ebay, which pisses me off abit more, cuz its unfair. thanks and also, i have a old geforce 2 64meg mx400, is it possible to run it? whats the cheapest video card to buy that can run this very nicely, im thinking bout 100-150 range... |

your card will run the game....but you'll hate every minute of it.
you can grab a Radeon 9200 for your price range that will run the game fine at 1024x768. |

Botters/Hackers/Exploiters? Yes. But with the different districts and such you don't need to be around them, or anyplace where the folks are annoying.
As far as video cards, if you only have a PCI slot (older computer), my ATI Radeon 9250 256MB card runs everything on the highest settings with little to no lag. For the price range you're looking at, though, you could get a much much much much (did I say much?) nicer card online... key word being (not much) online. |

I don't know a thing about botter/hackers/etc. I've never played an online game before, of ANY kind. My husband has been prodding me into it though for the past year, trying to get me to play Black Hawk Down (too violent for me) and then, beginning last month, Guild Wars. He put the game on my computer, and twisted my arm three weeks ago to try it.
I'm signed up on this board, we spent probably 20 hours this weekend playing it, I skived out of a dog event (I do a lot of things with my dogs) I'd pre-entered to stay home and play, AND I haven't done much housework to speak of for a week. Right now I'm at work, where I should be doing something billable; instead, I'm reading a Guild Wars message board. So I'd recommend it. Don't know if it's that great for someone used to playing online though, but I can say it's been a load of wow for me. Cynthia |

YooJin, there are always going to be botters, hackers, and exploiters. The thing about Guild Wars is, every time you go into an explorable area (EA), you get your own little copy of the map. If you want to, you can go out completely alone, or you can bring a party of friends, and so for the vast majority of the game you don't have to listen to the botters, hackers, exploiters, or even the annoying little kids shouting about their dance parties. And when you are in a city or outpost, you can easily turn off the chat so that you only hear your guild, your party, and whispers. While the botters, hackers, exploiters, etc will always be there, Guild Wars does a good job of making sure you don't have to deal with them, and they're also doing their best to make sure that cheaters don't get rewarded. Just last week they put in a modification to stop botters, and they're going to keep at it.

1024x768 anti-aliasing 2x terrain quality=medium reflections=All texture quality=high shadow quality=medium So basically, almost highest setting (good enough to enjoy the game thoroughly), but he was asking for a cheap card. Also note, I did say for the price range he was looking at, he could get something alot better. And also, I did mention the fact that he might be limited by the type of slot available. EDIT: Also, by the cheapest video card he can get to run this very nicely... as low end as the 9250 is, and I acknowledge this, it don't get much cheaper. EDIT AGAIN: Plus I run the Catalyst driver right out of the box's cd and I have zero, nada, no problems. It really gets no easier. Now exscuse me while I go find some wood to knock on. Damn laminates. Last edited by Edge Martinez; Jul 06, 2005 at 04:40 AM // 04:40.. |

all u guys with your great cheap graphics cards. i ahte you!!!. i have a 5700LE because i only have a PCI slot. anyway, the only botters are people that ahve their characters farm certain areas for them, without actually controlling them. the only problem this caused was the nerfing of good farming spots, and there is now a massive amount of gold circulating, and trades going four over 100k+++, although you can only trade 100k at a time

Hmm, I never noticed any Hackers or any Scammers while I was playing. Then again, I agree all games do have Scammers and Hackers. Guild Wars is worth the money cause it has really good graphics and theres a story to it, only 2 reasons why I bought it. Plus, when your doing Missions there are Cinimatics and they are pretty cool sometimes cause you know you can sit back and relax.

regarding hackers... I suspect that this game is safer than any other for hackers (far far safer than D2 for sure) and bots are annoying but Anet (the dev team) is always working to slow down their growth.

For a video card buy a 9600xt. They are now around 100-150 bucks. I can run everything all the way up except for anti aliasing= none. But it looks dang pretty without it.

This computer I just bought last summer, I was impressed with the video card then.
But it sucks compared to my other computer. I get more lag on this really good computer than I do on the other crappy computer with a much better video card. Well, not really lag, it's just lots of delay, really choppy. I get lag on my other computer. Picture is great, but the game just pauses once in a while because it's a poor old pentium II. This one just needs a better video card and I'll be the happiest camper in the world. As for right now I'll just sit here and be grumpy that I lag on max detail settings. Oh, and I have yet to see an obvious hacker. I do not doubt that there are people in the game that use hacks, but I can still own 90% of them in pvp and they aren't hurting me in cities or any other place... so it's fine.
